Hi i got an r4i cart and was wondering if i can download and play other region games? I have a euro ds, so could i play a ds downloaded rom that is US region?

Help as i want to play some games that dont have eur roms

Thankx

You can download any region ROM your heart desires as far as the DS is concerned. Nintendo didn't enter (or I guess I should say re-enter) region locking hell until DSi Ware was a thing.

So i can play any region roms on my ds with my r4i card, but cant do the same on my dsi?

Trying to get games like ace attorney and such but loads arent available in eur region....same with prof laytons....is there any particular country region games that would contains full english txt or translation? Such as fr region games or german as they are in europe?

Thanks again

Migles, thanks for your answer...dont wannna try somehing that might brick my device....keenly eager, not stupidly eager.

The system's region does have one effect. That is, language settings.
Some games lack an in-game language option and may only use modes available in the system menu.

For example a euro plain ds can load Japanese text of games like Sonic Colors.
While the euro dsi or 3ds won't be able to.

it won't... if there was a problem it would crash or refuse to read that game.. no harm would be done...

Ah see Migles, thats where i have been misinformed, i was always under the impression if you tried a rom that wasnt specified for the flashcart or the ds region, u could brick it....I've been looking at emuparadise for roms, are there any better sites u could recommended for rom downloading?

That means thought the text is in jap and not english? Im looking at downloading some roms but certain sites dont have a eur rip and if there is a rip it will be a fan made patched rom like miles edgworth 2

games released on japan usually are in japan language... some got options to change to english but miles edgeworth 2 is not one of them
lots of games where released on japan and later nintendo translates them and release on usa\europe..

there are a bunch of games that never got an english release, or were sold outside of japan...

but fans like to help other players and translated some japanese only games, like miles edgeworth 2, and tomodachi for ds...

so yeah, that fan translation is the only way to play the game in english..

also, you can't talk about websites to download roms, neither ask about them.. because thats against the rules https://gbatemp.net/help/terms

Ok migles, my bad about thevsitesnissue, just on another thread where i was afterminfo som E onr told mr nout the place I'd mentioned. ...is there a sute wiyhb a good list of games that have been crossed over to usa or eur and or maybe somewhere which lists which games fans have transcribed themselves or patched? Sorry to bug u, but u seem all knowledgeableon this subject
cheers

Rarely. That's the opposite effect, which happens if you import a DSi or 3DS from Japan.
Those systems can't be set to english. Preventing games like Sonic Colors from playing in english.
So if i get a jap rom it will play in eglish txt then?
