Hacking R4DS

So I have finally scrounged out my DSL after a year or so. Well of course the first thing I want to do is update my R4 and get new cheats and such. I currently have the 1.18 kernel. So I went to the r4ds.cn site but it seems there is no firmware. My friend told me that the cops in China covered the r4 factory thus leading to death of the r4. I have however heard of r4team and r4sdhc. Are they really the original team or do they just use the interface of the originial site and make custom kernels? If it compatible with the original R4 card which of the many r4 sites out there is the best?

Personally I prefer YSMenu for my R4. The original R4 team was indeed shut down indefinately. Clone firmware does not work as well as the original but there is ongoing support through the use of YSMenu. Use the search button and find a tutorial. The tuts are very informative.

you can use r4li's firmware (a little buggy especially with cheats! it will make the all the codes in the folder to be selected once only),

stay with 1.18

if you are talking about cheat in precise!
try get hold of r4cce (the editor made by yasu and learn how to manage your own database)
delete a chunk of games that you will never play
and the rest it is just as simple as copy and paste from 1 dat to another dat

game wise? those with anti piracy you can always use patches to overcome it
