Hacking R4 glitch?

i had nesDS put garbage files on my m3 lite msd card that were 4 and 8gb reported size. i was not able to delete them and had to format the card. it is safe to assume that the r4 is not perfect and at times it will glitch while allow you to play thousands of dollars of free software =).

Today I have experienced the same problema again.

This time I have not done any change in the SD card content (it was not modified in the last 3 weeks). I checked the "_DS_MENU.DAT" and "_DS_MSHL.NDS" files on the SD card with those in the archive from the R4 site. For the hex compare program there are no differences, so the problem is not related to the corruption on the SD card.

I tried to fix removing all the kernel files (including "_DS_MENU.SYS") and updating with the new kernel 1.18 (previously it was 1.17). After inserting the SD card the problem appears again and immediatly. I then tried another SD card and also with this one again the same problem! I reinserted the card with kernel 1.18 and, after 2/3 power off/power on with the problem, it worked back again!

I'm quite perplexed. I think it's some bug, since the same problem was experienced by another person. I sent an email to the R4 tech support, but not sure if they'll reply and check the problem.

Any hint/suggestion? Ather people have seen the same issue?

back up everything in the card and reformat by going in my computer and right clicking the removable flash drive then format it to fat 16 and download the new firmware from here which is in the clients and loader section

yes, I always format the microSDs with fat16 with 32k clusters and the kernel files are taken from original archive from R4 site. So, the type of file system format is not the reason for the problem.

Working 2 days ago doesn't mean it'll work today, maybe the problem lies in the R4 itself
