Hacking R4 DS skins

Nice skin Quay Cur, I was looking for a green one.

I downloaded the latest available kernel for R4DS, all of a sudden the skins located in the _system_ folder doesn't work anymore. The default skin shows up instead with the pac man like icon for games. Where to I put the new skin files?

Didn't you replace the whole _system_ folder?
You may need to copy the skins again.

I did, and instead of showing the skins I placed in the _system_ folder, it's showing the calendar themes.

Well....if you replaced the whole _system_ folder you also replaced the themeXX folders

You need to place your skins again.

Here's a Wii-OS themed skin that I made by combining 2 different skins and doing some modifications to them such as: Brand new icons, cool (I think) brightness and soft reset icons, and other crap I can't remember. A couple of my friends are using it now, and they say it's awesome. so tell me what you think

Not bad. I like the icons for the Wii Themed skin.

Yeah, overall I like the Wii skin better, mostly for the sensor bar brightness icon, I don't know why but that's one of my favorite parts

. That and I spant about twice as much time on getting the icons PERFECT. I had probly 2 or 3 other versions, I'll tidy those up later and post 'em.

How is this skin supposed to work the r4 doesn't read .png,

so how will the icons you have made work, also the icons.bmp

is in .png format to , the r4 wont read it, not to seam like an ass

either but you have just copy and pasted the logo.bmp,

bckgrd_1.bmp and bckgrd_2.bmp off of ozzy's take on my skin.

also it has no .ini, so the colors are all wrong.

when i put it on my ds it looks exactly like ozzy's skin with no

icons.bmp cus it cant read the .png, and the nice soft reset and

brightness icons dont work either cus they are not part of a working r4

skin.

im sorry but i would advise people to either download takaM's wii

cloud skin, my DS.tm skin or ozzys r4 wii skin.

If you read the info on the download page you'd see that I already addressed those issues.

1. If you use R4 Injector you can change the brightness and soft reset icons (along with the default skin in the firmware). Heres a link to the injektor topic.

2. As for the png issue, the program I am using has no bmp format saver, so I said to convert them on your own (you can import them using R4 Injektor anyway)

My first theme is inspired by The Darkness

I didn't add a theme.ini file because I had no idea what to do with it but anyways, here's the bmp files, if you want, you can make your own theme.ini file

Tell me what you think.. this is my first attempt at making a theme btw...

EDIT: Bah, when i uploaded them it got converted to jpg =/ If you want the bmp's cuz you're too lazy to convert them back pm me with your email

that still dose not address the fact that "your" skin

is just ozzys skin with a different logo.bmp. and it has no

.ini,

2. I gave credit where credit was due
and 3. Quasai did 2 of the things you said that I did wrong with his Darkness skin, and you didn't yell at him, what's up with that?

as requested by initial D, a tetris skin, i made every part from

scratch, i use a image for reference but never copied and pasted a part,

the image i used is this...

its the cover to tetris ds, and here is the skin i made from the concept...
