Hacking r4 deluxe edition help

Hi

I am a n00b to this so this is my situation :

I have a 3ds XL on Ver. 4.3.0-10E



I got the gold card.
Extracted wood r4 kernal onto the root of a formated SD.

Inserted gold card.
Launched Dorasu
Ran 3ds setup from menu.

Programing.​

Verify...​

3DS setup process is completed.​

Press HOME button and go to main menu. ​

Pressed home.
Removed 3DS SD card, formatted it, put on launcher.dat file.



I can't seem to run the exploit from other settings --> Profile ---> Nintendo DS profile ( it does not restart the console)

Doesnt accept starter cartridge with rom either.

Any ideas? Do I need firmware 4.1 or 4.5 or is mine ok.

4.1 to 4.5 is ok so yours is fine
when you do setting > profile > nintendo ds profile it should boot you out into the home screen and if you got the other r4 card put in with microsd you should see the game pop up in cartridge area. it doesn't restart the console when you select profile. just wanted to make sure did you use windisk imager to burn the rom onto your microsd or just copy and paste?

Hey.

It does not boot me out from Nintendo DS profile, it stays stuck on a grey screen.
Says Disabled in left corner, and on the right date time and battery.

As for the Starter white cartridge, I used the windisk imager to write a .3ds file to a micro sd.

So you put the launcher.dat onto the 3DS's SD card (Not the Mini SD), and burned a 3DS image to your mini SD? If you don't have the launcher.dat on the root of your regular SD card, the exploit will simply crash your system without doing anything.

Yes I put the launcher.dat file onto the 3ds's SD card.
Stuck on grey screen as described. Can take pic if anyone needs?

Try re-installing, it sounds like you aren't on 4.1-4.5 to me, because if you aren't then the exploit just crashes your device.

Yes I saw, but it sounds like he isn't. It's not the card's fault, as it should be able to boot right into "R4" mode without the card plugged in.

Try using a different SD card for your system, or even maybe wiping it clean and re-trying. You obviously don't have a faulty set of flashcards (That we can see yet).

Gateway's "blue cart hack" relies on the SD card; if you change it to a brand new card or a clean one, the hack gets deleted. The same should apply to the DS profile hack of the clones.

So, next time, don't reformat anything. Just put the launcher on the SD and execute the DS mode hack via "R4i silver cart, enjoy 2D games", then go to DS profile and tell us if it works.

Hi all,
I got a blue flashcart of the R4i 3ds Gold deluxe and a 3ds with firmware 6.3.12U. Im trying to get regular DS games working on it with the blue flashcart but I keep getting the error asking me to power off the 3ds. I downloaded the latest wood kernel too. Is there something Im missing?

I still am having the same issue as before. I have coppied the new launcher.dat 3.0 that came out today onto it and it still is stuck at the grey screen.


If you put the white card in, will it display anything in the DS menu? or does the exploit have to complete before card is even detected?

Hi, not hijacking your thread, but my problem is similar enough that maybe there is something we are both doing wrong. I am on 4.5.0-9U. I just got my card and I have done everything like you did and I can't run the exploit either, it does not restart the console, but it doesn't get stuck on grey screen either, just gives me the message

if I click OK I can just adjust the settings like normal!

But going into the ds profile does not restart. Since it never restarted it never gets to the sd card so that can't be the problem. I also tried different micro sd cards in the gold card, different sizes too up to 32gig. but always the same thing, I never get the exploit to crash the system. I also noticed that sometimes the wood loses the touch screen ability some times for some strange reason ( I can navigate to start using the buttons but not by actually pressing the screen). This is making me assume that the gold card is faulty or its not reading from the microsd correctly. I never got to the white card but just putting it in doesn't do anything. I even tried swapping cards trying to run the wood from the white card but again nothing
I'm out of ideas! I'm hesitant to ask for an exchange and wasting weeks waiting but I really can't see how I am the problem.

I always shut down the unit after the gateway setup is done, maybe you both can try that?

Guys, I had exactly the same problem last night. Get the wood firmware from the R4i site but from the FTP server rather than the mirror link.

Here it is in painful detail:

Put SD card back in 3DS. Went to other settings --> Profile ---> Nintendo DS profile
and...... I get the profile screen:

If I press OK I can mess with the settings.. No crash, no reboot.

Here are some of the other options I tried:

Putting the launcher.dat file in the 3DS SD card FIRST, then doing the Dorasu.
I also tried turing off the 3DS after launching exploit and then leaving it on.
I also tried different micro SD cards (2 different 2 gig cards and one 32 gig card)
I also tried formatting all cards( Micro SD and SD card) with first windows format then retried with panasonic formatter.
Finally I tried with firmware 2.0 and new firmware 3.0.

Also got the wood firmware from R4i site and tried anotherone from another site.

Why do you remove and format the SD card here? Why don't you put the launcher file in first before activating the gateway mode? Also, why wont you try it with the blue gateway card?

Edit: I see that you did, just try with the Gateway blue card and see what happens.

It never crashed, so I don't see how I can use the blue card. I did put it in at some point, but no game showed up. What is supposed to happen after other settings --> Profile ---> Nintendo DS profile anyway? Doyou get the DS profile screen or it crashes right away?

It crashes and reboots the console. What do you mean you cant use the blue gateway card?!

That's my problem. It DOESN'T crash and reboot console. It lets me go into DS profile like normal. Something is wrong with either the gold card or wood firmware and I've tried different woods.
