Nice program TrolleyDave. My sister is using it to organize her R4 now

Thanks!

V1.08 Released! Anyone who had a problem installing should find this version works fine (no more missing files errors!) as it now uses a proper installation routine! As far as I can tell it's now 100% bug-free so there won't be any releases for a little while.

As usual the upgrades are on the blog.

Changes/Fixes for V1.08
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
V1.08
-----
- Put latest firmwares into the installation and update SNemulDS and ComicBookDS to latest versions.
- Fixed a problem with the window title.
- Program now uses an installation exe.
- Fixed a bug where firmwares weren't unpacked.
- Fixed a bug where if a NDS file had a corrupt header the program would crash.
- Fixed a really stupid bug where the splash screen would stay open if the first file in the backups list was a zip file that contained a file with the extension .nds that wasn't actually a backup.
- No longer crashes if you change the installation directory. Now takes whatever directory the exe was started in rather than the directory R4/M3S Commander was very first run in.
- Fixed bug that caused it to crash if no firmware, emulator, application or homebrew game, installation files were found.

Thanks! There's still some stuff to do to it but the functionality is 100% and it's working 100% from what I can tell, there's been no error reports from the beta that's been up for download all day so hopefully! lol Now that it should be working for everyone I'm going to just polish it all off and put an auto-upgrader in there. Unless of course the R4 team release another firmware that requires a code change in the program!

I'm going to be lost now though, I need a new project to work on. I was thinking of a skinning wizard or something, so you just pick the the files and it resizes them and then puts it all together in a zip file. Shouldn't take too long to write and it'd be handy for beginners who just want to pick files and see a skin produced (like me! lol). I'm currently employmentless so I've got plenty of spare time (as you can tell by the amount of updates recently! lol)!

Thanks for everyones help in developing the program. As usual any problems or suggestions feel free to get hold of me!

I've put a beta test version of my next project EZ-Commander up on my blog if anyone wants to have a look at it. It's going to be a very cut down generic version of the R4 Commander.

Added 0.04beta of the new generic Commander project to the blog with the basics of the game library system. Games have to be dropped in at least once before they'll show up in the game library list. Pack implementation and the rest of the game library coming tomorrow.

Also added a new skin to the R4 Commander update pack download list.

All these packs add to the downloadable update list.

Hey T Dave, thanks for all the work you've put into this. I would also love to see you develop the Skinning Wizard app you have in mind. How far along on it are you?

Uhm I've kind of got side tracked by another project for the moment, plus I haven't really had a chance to get much of anything done on the PC in the last week or so.

Have nearly got the new program at a releasable stage, then I'm going to do the skinning program and then I'm going to polish off the R4/M3S Commander and the new program.

Oooo what project are you working on?

I do have one suggestion for ya, why don't you add in a kind of database like rominator does? (http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=44909)

Also try out DS-X Manager, similar to what you've got for R4 Commander...

How did that save support go?

How did that save support go?

I didn't get that save stuff done yet to be honest! It's kind of a low priority compared to all the other stuff but it is definitely coming because I want it for the app I'm working on now, which is a generic version of the R4/M3S Commander. At the moment it's called EZ-Commander but I'm thinking of changing the name to Lightning Flash.

It's drag and drop for all the files, although you can select games/packs from your library. Whenever you drop a rom or pack into it it adds it to your game/pack library automatically (or you can opt for just library adding) and then you can choose from a list of stuff.

The packs can be anything for any card as well. They work similar to the installation packs of R4/M3S Commander where it's a zipped up pre-patched working install (guarantees high compatability then and if somethings wrong it's easier to track down). I've done a R4 Firmware 1.08 pack and a SNemulDS pack just to test it out.

The game library gets it's info from a database and everything is indexed when you first start the library up or when new stuff is added. If you've got all 1000 releases it can take up to about 5 secs to cross reference and cache everything but it's instant after that.

The programs about halfway done. There's a downloadable preview build on the blog if you want to have a look at it, but don't use it properly as none of the file structures or anything are finalized, you can get a good idea of where the program is going though.

Here's some screenshots...

add cheat support so we can enter codes with ease.
maybe even link up with the action replay website so you can have a list of codes in the program.

it's a good program but looks a little cluttered.

keep up the good work
