why are people still looking into buying a R4???
and a clone for that matter

I still dont get it...
they just ignore everything tons of people have been saying for the last 2-4 months and just do what they want and get ripped off

I think there should be a required quiz whenever the you try to create a topic with the word R4 in the title

1) Do you think R4 is the best cart ever?

2) Do you still fail to acknowledge the R4 team and cart is dead?

3) Do you still recommend the R4 to your friends and anyone asking what cart to get?

I bought a few weeks ago two R4-Advance and now i saw the report of BurlyEd.

I didnt read all post in this thread so dont flame me if someone else posted the same like me.

I have totaly another expirience with the R4A
Just for the beginning. DONT BUY THAT CRAP.

I have two Micro SD wich are a SanDisk 512 MB and a Kingstone 2 GB.
If i start a Game first of all sometimes R4A have problems with making a sav Data for the Game. Solution= i need to formate the Micro SD card.
If the R4-Advance somehow handeled to make a Save data for the Game, there comes another problem. After playing a Game closing the NDS and start over the NDS the screen is stuck in Loading screen. Solution again = Format. This is not happening just 1 Time in a week. Its happening aloooot of times in a day.

Maybe my two Micro Sd cards are crap, but SanDisk and Kingstone are known to be good. Anyway i read this report on some other forums also. So iam not the onlyone with the Problem.

BurlyEd what Kind of 4GB Micro SD sard did u use on the R4A.

Deaths, just ask for a refund, anything with R4-xx these days are total cowsh*t. We gotta keep respect on R4, since it's a pioneer, but buying anything and trying to solve the probelm with anything but refund is a stupid move. Well if i would have the chance to refund it, i would do it, but there is no chance to give it back

If there is a solution on the R4A i will give the cards to my nephews.

Iam thinking to buy a Acekard 2, or a Cyclo DS. The point is, do i need a Realtime save, slowdown, or not. And am i willing to pay 15-20€ more, than for the Acekard2.

I did buy the r4A on bazar//market. Its taking playce 1 time in a months. And i idiot didint took his phone number or something like that. i hope the seller will come next time, but i dont expect it.

Download R4 Advance English-1.20 2008-09-01:

New firmware

This seems to fix the unformatting of the TF card, but the irritating noise when you close the DS during gameplay is still there.
There may be a fix for HULK (there are 32 occurances of the string in 1.20 which were not in 1.19.
And it is still a POS. Mine seems to have died during the latest tests, before I could test HULK.

But at least my TF card is still formatted!

stick a R4 brand label to a DSTT so that makes a new brand "R4 advance"?
Look at their home site,a stolen template and grossing the same description...
the same with R4 SDHC and R4 Upgraded....
these fake make no difference....and also make no sense

I have successfully tried putting R4(SHDC), R4 III and N5 latest firmware into my old R4s ( 1 white and 1 black casing ), using the encrypting process. All booted and worked properly, but no better than the v1.18 of the original R4 firmware.

The first time when I got R4 SHDC v1.21 into my R4, I was damn excited, thinking that there is now a new lease of life for my once beloved cart. I was wrong. Games that v1.18 cannot play, has continued to remain unplayable in the supposely updated firmware in v1.21, such as Hulk, Diagassu (Jap), Carnival Games, Rikku (Jap) and Crazy Frog. The same apply to v3.02 using R4 III and N5 v1.20.

I have retired my R4. Now in a better Acekard2.

Thank u R4, for all the lovely times I derived in FFIII, Diamond, Rune Factory, Luminous Knight ........

Well, the new 1.20 Kernel of the R4-Advance hast just a new Skin Options. Even the calendar as a Skin is false. The Bugs like deleting the datas on the TF, and to need formate it is still there. More over with the new skin, the R4-A is getting slower.

Anyway. Last week i gived back the R4-A. I was thinking to buy a Acecard2 (35 euro) or a Cyclon DS (50 Euro). Newertheless i buyed a E7 for 20 Euro.
For the ppl that dont know the E7. Its again a Clone of the R4. For me the E7 is working well (I dont expect that much for 20 Euro). The skin usage is like in R4-Advance. I modded the skin and put some pics of my doughter into it. If i change all the skin, games bigger than 16 MB dont load up. The other problem is that u need a fast TF card. Else it could take u 1 mn to load up a 64 MB game. But like i sad before. I dont expect to much on a 20 Euro card.

P.S i will give this one to my daughter and buy some fo my nephews and for the cids of my friends.For my self i will buy a Cyclon DS. I love the Realtime Save and the slow motion.

I see on the flag that ur in USA. I know that the E7 in Usa ia 13 $. But not in Europe. A Acecard2 is like 35 Euro here.
