1. how do i do it
2. is it safe
3. what are the advantages
4. what are the disadvantages

1. Here is a video guide: https://bit.ly/2qkqJuy . Here is a text guide: https://bit.ly/2v2amrM or https://bit.ly/2GMoeYZ.
2. It is very safe. I have done it, but I switched backed because it didn't offer anything more than B9S.
3. You can choose the order in which things boot. It is easier to assign button prompts to load firms. Includes a NAND backup feature but GodMode9 already has this. It looks cooler.
4. If you are a basic user (i.e. not a developer), you are really better off just sticking with B9S. It is a little more complicated in use/features.

How to do it: I know you have to use OpenFirmInstaller, but idk how that works.
Is it safe: I don't see why it wouldn't be.
Advantages: If you want to press buttons to load other .firm files without using Luma's chainloader, you can do that here. Alternately, if you absolutely hate GodMode9 you can make a NAND backup here.
Disadvantages: You can't dump the bootroms & I don't know how to set up OFI.

tl;dr all it's functionality and more is included with Luma and GodMode9.

If you dont know what it is or what it offers, then chances are you don't need it. You're not missing out on one of the greatest things out there.
Most basic users just install game backups and homebrew and don't need to access godmode9 or other payloads.
