Well I used to rip my own games until I was banned during the last ban wave, so now I am getting more adventurous and grabbing stuff from the net. (Ban Wave was a blessing in disguise, saved cash when I canceled two gold accounts and now I'm saving on games! Thanks MS) Anyway on to my serious question games like Dragon Age Origins Expansion pack that came out today,
Dragon.Age.Origins.Awakening.XBOX360-GLoBAL
This is a PAL release but region free, so was Final Fantasy and Mass Effect 2. With GBA and NDS USA releases get released alongside other releases in other countries unless it is a identical cart. Since there is no Mass Effect 2 USA release am I to assume that the games are identical PAL=NTSC or is it since everyone has a copy that works who cares about another copy from another region?

99% or more of the time yes- if the game is region free and if you are not waiting on a language (there is the odd Euro language only rip that comes out ahead of everything else) the is no point in waiting as a new release will not come and if one does chances are it will be nuked. Before anyone else asks yes that means as long as the rip is out somewhere in the world you will not be playing it ahead of time- it does not trouble anything on the banning front.
There was a debate about different discs the other month when someone got nuked for a "new" rip that was as far as everything else was concerned identical.

The other two notable occurrences in such a realm is Lips (the karaoke game) which had a few different tracks depending on region and recently there was a game that presumably was sourced in Mexico or somewhere along the southern border that had Spanish and English and one from Canada that had French and English (both were NTSC/U titles though).

Blue Dragon is another notable occurrence!
The copy I bought yesterday is NTSC/U, BUT the text is only in Spanish, the voice-overs however can be chosen to be in English, Spanish or German.
It says "Completely in Spanish" on the Box-art too.
New 360 owner BTW

I would sooner call that the 360 settings- some games will allow you to choose and some will read your chosen language right off the menu.
If it is not that though then it would be interesting to find out more on that one.

I'll check, but I'm pretty sure that it is only in Spanish...

Okay well here is an interesting problem, I have purchased original Dragon Age and downloaded expansion pack. The expansion pack is a region free from pal territory. This downloaded disc is not recognizing my original save to let me import it to the new disc! Am I just having a senior moment and missing something obvious or have I run into a problem of region compatibility?

*Edit
Okay, I'm a jackass, boot up game and I see NEW GAME and LOAD GAME (which was grayed out). Rebooted Xbox several times and Load game still wasn't an option. Went to NEW GAME and then I was given the option to import a save. "DOH"
