Hacking Question about upgrading system menu on a modded wii

Ok, V4.2E is out and I know that updating the the system menu through the wii can/will brick it... If I download the V4.2E WAD file and install it using WAD Manager, is there a chance of bricking my wii? I have V4.1E ATM, and like to keep it updated...

4.1 is the latest system menu as far as I know.

Nothing on Wiibrew.org about 4.2 and my Wii has not informed me of an update.

Really, I've got message saying Wii System Menu Update, and when I checked WiiConnect24 it asked me to connect to the internet to perform wii system update...

Why is this?

It always asks to do an update, even when you set a new wlan connection and test the settings, it tells you there is an update... not that it is saying it is 4.2 but hey...

It asks if you want to perform an update, NOT that there IS an update. There is no 4.2 right now.. performing an update at 4.1 would not do anything, but give a message about there being no update.

Ok, bit of a coincidence, 4.2e IS out now, so I know upgrading through WiiConnect24 is a very bad idea, cos it deletes home brews and other various things [http://wiibrew.org/wiki/System_Menu_4.2].

So If I get a WAD file for it, will it still muck up my system? Installing a system menu WAD doesn't seem to dangerous to me...


Any help highly appreciated...

Based on what 4.2 does even with a wad install it would be a bad idea. Just as well you didnt listen to those people saying 4.2 didnt exist!

and in answer to your question, it would brick you, as it runs on ios70, which you need to also install
