Gaming Question about Street Pass

Hi, I have a question about Street Pass on the 3DS. I plan on going out to the mall tomorrow and am bringing my 3DS with me, now if I want to collect street pass data all I have to do is leave my 3ds in sleep mode?

Also the only things I have for my 3DS so far are Excitebike (Free classic), Pokdex 3D, Pokemon Black. So will I still gather anything from street pass with that said? Or no?

Just leave it in sleep mode and you're good to go

Remember to turn on your wifi switch, and enable streetpass in every game that uses it and in the "System Settings" menu on your 3DS.

I'll be hitting up at least 3 GameStops so maybe something will happen who knows

There are streetpass groups all over this country. You'd find people at certain places.

You've made your personal mii, and gone to streetpass plaza/enabled the streetpass feature in the games that have it?
Don't be playing a DS game, wifi switch on, close system.
That's all that's required.
