Quite simply put is it safe to trade with a friend who already owns a leaked copy of this game. I mainly ask cause technically the game isn't officially released yet.

Yeah you can use the wifi features but no one knows if you can get banned .

I wouldn't risk it as of now, you may or may not be banned/console banned.

I have a friend claiming he was able to go to the plaza and wonder trade. Well that's a way to trade Pokemon but not exactly what I'm looking for... So I'm guessing no one has tried it themselves to see out of curiosity?

I've done link trade, link battle, wonder trade and festival missions online. Will you get banned? Maybe, but in my personal experience probably not.

They wouldn't. There are people in stores who sold the game, so it's not other people's fault.

If you don't care about the chance of getting banned, go ahead.
If you wanna be cautious, then don't. Easy as that.

I have a "TEST" 3DS used mainly for stuff like this (and Custom Miiverse Stuff) and so far, I've been able to trade and go into the Plaza just fine.
