Hacking Question about ad-hoc and Gateway

So, I keep Spotpass, and wifi off - (pretty much take every precaution so that it won't connect to the 'net. Delete all wifi connections, spotpass off, parental controls, wifi switch off, etc.)

If I were to 'get' pokemon Y (once it works via gateway) - would I be able to play locally with friends? (Battle/trade/etc.)? Or would that require the Pass thing or Wifi Or something that could jeopardize the exploit and accidentally cause me to update?
