Hi. I'm very confused about this topic, because I've seen some people run GBA games directly from their emuNAND without installing it to both NANDs, and others only via installing the game to both NANDs. Can someone clear this up for me? I've already installed the correct AGB_FIRM.

I'm only wondering because I've been burning to play GBA games but I've been told to stay away from installing anything on the sysNAND. So, is it possible to install GBA games on emuNAND and run them from there?

You can run gba games from emunand using retroarch gpsp emulator, or you can install them as cia. There are some sites with gba games as cia and there is a tool to convert gba games to cia. But, last time I checked, cia gba games don't work on the latest rxtools. You will need 2.6 rxtools for that.

I am on rxTools 2.6. I was wondering if there was a way to only install them to emuNAND and run them from there without having to install them to sysNAND as well.

I understand what you mean now. No, you can't run anything from sysnand except for legit cias. Everything else should be accessible from emunand.

We're getting really confused, now. Let me start from the beginning.

What I'm wondering is, if I am capable of running a GBA VC game from emuNAND only, without installing it in sysNAND as well.

Yes. They're supposed to run only from emunand and be installed only from there. You don't install anything in sysnand.

My emuNAND is on latest FW (10.2) and as I am writing this, I am installing PMD, onto the emuNAND of course.

"An error has occurred. Press and hold the POWER Button to turn the system off. Please refer to the Operations Manual for details."

I don't know about the latest emunand. But mine which is still on 10.1 works fine with gba games. Try another game. Could be a bad cia.

This is something new to me, I thought that you have to install it on both sys and emunand.

Aren't pretty much all GBA games slow on 3DS though? I'd like to play ff1&2 GBA but not if it's terribly slow :/

Alright. Let me try another game.
I have never installed them that way. Rxtools 2.6 removed the need for agb_firm.
Installed Pokémon Emerald onto emuNAND only. Booting now.

Same error.

strange. I haven't used this method for a long time now. You can try gpsp emulator. It has decent speed.
