I know it sounds crazy and it is. What I want to know is if people make replacement batteries for laptops that are larger (mean more watt hours) I know they did mak larger one for ones that went on the back. But what about the ones inside? I'm thinking of like an asus x series laptop or the new dell g7. Any way I could upgrade the battery in those??

How much physical space is available inside the laptop around the battery? That’s what determines if you can put a bigger battery in.

The answer is usually “almost none”.

But I have seen some laptops which allow you to replace the battery with an extra large one that expands downwards. Some of them had a replacement bottom panel, whilst others were a snap-on battery.

I don't know if I have seen any but I have seen laptops expand batteries via the docking slot before as an addition to the onboard one. Theoretically you could have one of those with a contained battery pack (as opposed to a slide in/snap in of a higher end/business laptop that typically have such docking slots).

Definitely never seen one in the flesh but I recall reading of one that would allow you to sub the DVD drive for a secondary battery as well. Most people doing anything like this today are probably after a secondary hard drive though so you will have to wade through all that.

Fortunately we seem to have left the days where said replacements would also warrant a fancy charger replacement usually on a price par with the laptop itself as well.

Equally depending upon the weight/volume you want to carry you could possibly chain a car adapter to a motorbike battery, or indeed a small UPS.

As far as like for like size replacements I guess you could get someone replace something that originally came with bottom rung 18650s with current high end 18650s. I don't commonly see it though, certainly not compared to tools.

You can replace the cells inside. If its an older laptop, you can often get better cells with more mah. But it depends on the laptop, cells, etc.

You can replace the cells inside.
This... the challenge is in every other step: opening the battery non-destructively, replacing the cells without disconnecting power or while holding the regulator in reset state (will likely blow the fuse otherwise) and reprogramming the eeprom to have the new capacity values :)
