Intro

So I'm new to diddling with a hacked PStv and by simple chance I had found the little guy hiding in a old box of Playstation stuff i had stowed away hunting my old ps3 controllers for a friend and thought I wonder if it ever got a update to expand the white list to play "new" games. A simple search later and I came across a white-list hack and the rest followed. (But I guess it helped that I've hacked my 3ds, wii, ps3, etc.) So then once hacked I was looking at the little thing and thought it kinda needs a stand or something and looked at a few options and found out there is a few for like 50$ (Amazon) 10$ (Etsy) and then it hit me, I dug out my old ps1 that died of a 7up fiasco with my little brother, shed a tear and wondered how hard would it be to use it as a case for the tv and make a cool retro console with it inside.

So the thing i propose is generally aesthetic although I have old ps2s and a ps3 slim and fat which they i think are to large as the ps1 is just the right size to take / move anywhere with ease and show it off / store but I want to know what ideas could be implemented to make this work better and get any feedback from others that may throw their hat in the ring. I'm handy with soldering tools and have made some things like this before I.e. GBA SP guts in a Gameboy brick shell (blows peoples minds when they see the screen light up) and a few snes external hardrive game cases (though I'd love to figure a way to make nes ones that plug into nes system reader but different thought for another day). I have some thoughts already on how to get it going and would like to know if there is already hard mods for this thing, or if it would simply be better to add items to it to make a simple setup. Again I would love input on ideas.

Just Some of my personal opinion
First of all I detest pirating games online and own a lifetime worth of games that i backed up with a device I love "the Retrode". Second that dose not mean I don't like a good emulator, I'm a big retro gamer and thats what this project is to me a way to relive a great moment in my life / and get something new to play with and lastly I think the idea of this alleged console war is stupid so I don't have opinion on the matter and think a good game should be enjoyed by the gamer for what it is and not who made it. So If the Pstv can use / emulate consoles and other hardware I'm all in.

My PStv setup
PStv: Of course
firmware 3.65
HENkaku: Not sure if it can be hacked any other way.
Enzo: For the exploit to automatically take effect
usbmc: For setting my flash drive to osu: on boot
Adrenaline: Simply put a ps1 emu option to use rips of my ps1 collection that amassed dust and its nice to get my old psp game backups i made with my old pall psp the great and mighty hand held of retro gaming (now retired on a display case with its awkward hard plastic case covered diskettes for a more current 3ds emulator
Some PSvita games I had installed when i got started and some carts, game stick or what ever the proper term is.
1 shrimpy little 8 gig mem card

Things I would like to know
None basic hardware that might be fun to use with emus, system etc.
If there are better ways to set up my pstv for my goal.
If a schematic of the PStv guts are known just encase I have to make hardware changes.
can i set up multiple usbs as game storage locations.
Small check list
Step one
I need to figure a way to set the PStv in the ps1 to best house the charger cored, usb slot, power button, etc.

Step two
Assimilate the external components to work best for the system like the usb charger (for controllers), HDMI slot and power cable. Hopefully with some aesthetic flair, and make some things to make the system more ps1 like.

Step three
making it more ps1'ish like figure if I can make it load up like a ps1 picture sound etc. Maby a custom menu, although the menu is just fine the way it is. make parts lite up effect the system like pressing the on button cranks it on and off and setting places for cords.

This is what I've come up with so far.

1. I can take 1 or 2 old ps1 controllers long dead and get the plug off it and make it fit in the controller slot with a usb routed thought where the pins are to give the illusion of a plugged controller.

2. I read a usb hub will work if it uses external power, so i could plug it in set a mini power strip or block and plug the hub and the tvs power source into it and rout the cable out the old power plug port and place the hub somewhere more ideal, like the back or in a controller/memory card port witch if thats the case I could set up 2 or 3 small 128gig usbs together in a memory card and walla new external memory.

3. modifing a ps3 contoller into a more ps1 looking one with no joysticks and modding one to have xbox 360/one keys on it for nintendo game emus.
