Also, I wouldn't complain too much, Portal lovers. Didn't you all get a free PC copy via Steamplay?
I suppose most of them don't have a decent PC for gaming

I would like to doubt it's Anon but Sony not giving a warning or explanation for the outage, just doesn't sound right. Anon probably got his panties up in a bunch after his fail protest. If Anon was in my country, me and my pals with seriously hunt him down and sodomize him with a Xbox 360.
I hope you realize Anonymous isn't just one person, but a giant collective of people.

That only works for those with a good enough computer to run Portal 2. Not everybody with a PS3 has a good computer.

Also, the PSN experiencing some difficulties isn't too surprising. They did change who held the PSN service to a different division, and those people may be having some issues currently keeping it all up and running. There are many reasons the whole PSN could be down. I can guarantee it isn't those script kiddies who do nothing but launch DDoS attacks that fail miserably over 50% of the time.

While we are investigating the cause of the Network outage, we wanted to alert you that it may be a full day or two before we’re able to get the service completely back up and running. Thank you very much for your patience while we work to resolve this matter. Please stay tuned to this space for more details, and we’ll update you again as soon as we can.

I just bought fucking black ops to play against my friend over the long weekend. fuck.
And I'm getting Black Ops tomorrow.
Crossing my fingers that it comes back up by the time i get it.

AFAIK, you can't activate the included Steamplay version without linking your account with PSN first. And you can't link it without playing the game on PSN

Yes, it is true! The only way to play coop is splitscreen if you haven't activated it on PC before the "maintenance".

Yep, I'm screwed. I bought Portal 2 for the Co-op (since I recently got a PS3) and it doesn't allow me to activate the code without linking my account through PSN.

An external intrusion on our system has affected our PlayStation Network and Qriocity services. In order to conduct a thorough investigation and to verify the smooth and secure operation of our network services going forward, we turned off PlayStation Network & Qriocity services on the evening of Wednesday, April 20th. Providing quality entertainment services to our customers and partners is our utmost priority. We are doing all we can to resolve this situation quickly, and we once again thank you for your patience. We will continue to update you promptly as we have additional information to share.
But Anon said they won't do attacks that affect other users, could this be someone new?

ever thought of the possibility of it being an error instead of a damn hacker?

I wouldn't doubt that, its certainly a possibility, don't get me wrong. However the first few words do say "an external intrusion". That's all I meant by it.

Not only has Anon said that they would avoid doing anything that would effect users of Sony products, as they were after Sony themselves, but Anon can't do anything but weak 'ol DDoS attacks. We already saw the extent of what they could do before, and it was just minor little disturbances every once in awhile through one day.

Either somebody else is angry with Sony and has no fucking clue what they're doing, or Sony fucked up and is passing the buck.

ah i see

If it's them again, they're starting to be really annoying. Even if I totally understand their fight, some hackers were doing illegal things (even if it's for a good cause, illegal is still illegal), and Sony have the right to sue them. Deleting OtherOS was not the best thing to do, but still. But it's also possible that Sony is just manipulating the information by saying that it's an external intrusion ; everybody will think about Anon.
