PS4 Kernel Exploit Released for 4.05 OFW

After teasing the exploit recently on Discord, SpecterDev has officially released his kernel exploit for PS4 firmware version 4.05.

Official announcement

Code:
https://github.com/Cryptogenic/PS4-4.05-Kernel-Exploit

TLDNR (From GitHub):
In this project you will find a full implementation of the "namedobj" kernel exploit for the PlayStation 4 on 4.05. It will allow you to run arbitrary code as kernel, to allow jailbreaking and kernel-level modifications to the system. This release however, does not contain any code related to defeating anti-piracy mechanisms or running homebrew. This exploit does include a loader that listens for payloads on port 9020 and will execute them upon receival.

In case you want to get a PS4 <=4.05

People really thinking about "backups"? Good lord, have fun downloading 50gb+ worth of data per game from file-sharing websites at low speeds and not have ir corrupted after transferring all that crap via ftp... I rather buy the games for a few bucks when they go on sale every week...

First it was floppy backups being huge, then CD, then GDROM, then DVD, now bluray... It's a cycle, and people WILL put up with download times as they have since dialup :p

I think as the size of downloads gets bigger, yes some people have capped monthly limits, varying speeds etc, it might make you consider and being a little more selective in choosing your downloads, as you also need to store these things, the days of downloading an entire rom set, arent really there now, I gave up with that around the DC era, as space was getting very limited, 50gb is the norm really for a game on XBL, its annoying that the disc is only used as a key, spent a lot of last couple of days downloading games, despite having the physical version!, updates I get but the base game is sitting on the disc!!

This is because MS/Sony will both bring out discless consoles next time around, they are just preparing everyone for that!!!!

Oh yeah Im sure thats the route they are going, just frustrating to have a disc that is as good as a piece of paper! and until everyone gets unlimited uncapped fast internet, then using a disc to install base game is surely a more helpful option :D but yeah they arent in business to be helpful

We were not stuck on anything on PS3, you just needed 3.55 to be able to run the hack after that you could update to any of the CFW's available

Between 3.55 and 4.21 when three musketeers released the 4.x LV0 keys you most definitely were stuck on CFW 3.55.

just did the exploit without *much of a hitch. Turned on my PS4 for the first time in forever and was on 2.57. Upgraded to 4.05, did the exploit, which complained about not enough memory and reloaded the page a couple of times, but worked eventually. Did the debug settings thing. Now... meh. Nothing to do. Tell me when some cool emulators are made :P

i live in ny and I have free internet because i work for an isp...they just doubled my download speed...i don't think it will be as much of a problem as you think to be honest...but the reason I am excited? Mugen on ps4! Imagine a Dreamcast Emu? The possibilities are endless. Don't be a hater. See you later...

Don't get me wrong, homebrew and emus are one thing that I always find fun to mess around with, I have a homebrewed N3DS, Vita and PSP.

My comment was directly to people getting hyped over "PS4 backup loading", we all know that 9/10 of these people won't be backing up their own games but simply want to download them from iso sites.

To each their own I guess, but downloading games from iso websites used to be convenient when you didn't have to download hundreds of GBs.

We completely agree with each other here. Now here is a funny thing. Ever play morrowwind? It's such a small game. Same with oblivion. Like you would think they would be huge. I feel alot of these games are unnecessarily huge but not much I can do. Better devs seem to optimize code better.

Back on topic

Hey guys I was able to fix my web browser wooohooo use payload in my vid on my channel I link in description some people claim they have ftp access working but I can't see to manage that even after hex editing the payload to my ip...

Woohoo. Now people can hack in crossplay support with MS and Nintendo. :grog:

...even if it's just by getting Windows to run on the console.

Fully agree with you breh. Even when I've hacked a machine all I tend to do is rip my discs to the drive for convenience. If there were a way that they allowed you to do this officially, say with random "insert disc to verify you ain't installed it on a zillion machines" or shipping deactivated discs that required a one time online connection to unlock hd play then most exploits wouldn't even garner my interest.

Sure I could buy digital but I have a super crappy internet connection and do enjoy scooping up bargain physical prices. Plus it's nice to see what the devs crank out and the whole process still intrigues me.

You meant we can run XBOX One OS on PS4? I know the 2 console architect is similar but, if the developers can pull it off it's sick, almost all in one console.

No. It just meant that you needed 3.55 to hack the console, once that was done you could update to the latest fw as a cfw version was usually available a week or so after the ofw release.

Yes this hack will make the Xbox One X into a defunct console and MS will go bankrupt and people will die.

I have a 4TB drive a 3.5X PS4 (yeah bwoi), and access to a lot of game discs:

Will we be able to dump our own games soon like the original JB dongles for PS3?

i have ps4 on fw 4.01 but theres an update sitting waiting to update to 5.00 so just wondering do i grab 4.05 and update that via usb or is there a way to delete that 5.00 update?

Cross-play means playing with people on different consoles/platforms.

But no, that's usually server-side. It doesn't allow matchmaking between different platforms because Sony can't perma-ban (i.e. ban by console ID) toxic Xbox Live users if they're being dicks. Microsoft was ok about it, but that's because they're not the top dog in console sales and they need the users, while Sony doesn't. It's bullshit politics.

Also, I feel like maybe you were playing dumb. With 2000+ posts you'd think you would know what cross-play is.

If the exploit was patched in 4.06, why are we just hearing about it now?
It's why teamoverfl0w named it "Adieu" (goodbye in French), since it's an year old exploit (well, closer to 14 months). They mentioned it in their write-up, articles mentioned it... maybe you just weren't paying attention. We're definitely not "hearing about it now".
