Hardware Ps3 or wait for ps4?

I'm thinking of buying a new console around the summer holiday. But I have the feeling that if I buy the ps3 now, im pretty late. Because it was released on 17 november 2006.
Thats 5 years ago. I don't want to buy a new console and some time after that. The ps4 comes out :S and besides I have a wii. I can stick with the wii and wait for the ps4.

What do you guys think? Ps3 or just wait for the ps4?

Get the PS3. I got one a few weeks ago and love it. I've got a huge list of old games to get for it and there are still tons of awesome new ones coming out over the next year or so.

With the PSP2 coming out soon from Sony, I wouldn't expect the PS4 this side of the globe until at least 2013.

This is correct. It was said by execs at Sony that there is no plans for a new gen console any time soon as there is not a new technology to apply. Time will tell, but the PS3 is a great idea for now. As it was said, it is cheap and has a stellar lineup that continues to grow.

The PSP is already 6 years old... 7 this november. But still. Not to mention Sony said the PS3 is a 10 year console. PS4 won't be coming for at least 4-5 years.

If the 4-5 years is really true. I will defintely get it. But I doubt it will be that long since the system has been jailbroken

sony will still support it for 4-5 more years but they are liable to announce a new console before that time while still supporting the ps3 (that's what they did with the ps2)

I dont get why people says the ps3 has a shorter lifespan now, cause it has been jailbroken.XBOX360,PSP,WII,NDS...are those consoles jailbreak proof?IF that is then we should have seen a new wii, psp,nds or xbox360 long time ago...

I can't recall when... but I remember $ony saying they wouldn't release another console until 10 years after the launch of the ps3. You'd be waiting a damn long time.

I can be certain that now that the PS3 is fully hacked, sony is wanting to hurry up on the PS4. But no matter what, the PS4 is still a long time away. I doubt Sony has anything more than ideas on a drawing board.

I bet the ideas on the drawing board goes as follows:
1. Fire all previous incompetent programmers
2. Make the console unhackable
3. ?????
4. Charge inane amounts of money
5. Remove features that customers paid for
6. Profit

i've been thinking about it too and asked around .
people told me the PS3 won't be replaced for up to 3 years to the very least .
it's got a lot of potential , and a PS4 won't be expected in 3 years , the only thing you could expect are possibly newer games , or other gen consoles but i doubt it .

Too bad that we can't see the future. Maybe you buy a ps3 and suddenly a ps4 releases the next day

PS4 won't be around for a few more years - the technology just isn't there for a "next generation". For now, get a PS3, get Move, and look forward to a bunch of releases for Move that'll prolly suck as much as the Kinect titles.
