Just a quick question. If you mod/use modchip or something to hack your PS3, do you HAVE to update software to play online? If there is a method that will allow me to play games without updating the version, please tell me! Thanks!

there are two different ways to play online:

    1. Through PSN : You need the lastest official firmware. You loose your hacks, unless you have a multiboot hardware with two different firmware stored in two different hard drives (see E3flasher or PROGSKEET)

    2. Through LAN : create a VPN (hamachi, XlinkKai, XBSLink, etc.) with other users and play as if you were in Local network. It work only with 32 games. It works with cfw or any old ofw.
