well according to the psjailbreak team you can now downgrade your firmware if your on 3.42 or 3.50
if you google psdowngrade you'll find the information for it

Downgrading is reinstalling all the PS3 factory clean, you lose everything if you don't do a backup of your data first.
Then, I don't know if the backup'd data will work on the new system, as I don't know if the crypt key is hardware or regenerated after each factory installation.

I didn't see any report yet about data restoration after a downgrade.

Is the downgrade confirmed yet? I mean confirmed for firmwares higher than 3.41.

There's only the video, and I read that the downgrade program has been leacked on psx-scene.
Maybe in few days we will have more informations.
