Hardware PS3 12GB Slim Controller?

I have a PS3 12gb slim, it's hardly used and been sitting untouched for about 3 years, anyway I've just tried it and the controller is completely dead, doesn't even work when plugged into the console via USB.

Ideally I want to replace it with a genuine controller, I've looked on eBay and found some that look like they are in genuine boxes - but are only £8, so I was wondering if anyone on here may have brought a genuine one off eBay or another UK store who could point me in the right direction?

I was having the same problem. The real ones are out there, but you'll need to develop an eye for the details of what the controller and box are supposed to look like. Insist that the seller take photos of key angles. Also be prepared to open the controller to see the battery if the seller doesn't take photos of that. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is, but I've just now personally authenticated a practically brand new Dualshock 3 without the box that I got off ebay for $18, so they do exist. I also discovered that one I thought was fake was actually genuine, but had been refurbished with a fake shell, so that's a thing too. The real test is the battery and circuit board.

almost all ps3 controllers sold as new genuine are counterfeit.

Retro Fighters should make replica dual shock 3. They should be as identical as possible to the Sony ones but be branded obviously as Retro Fighters replicas.

might be worth just leaving it plugged in for a few hours and try a few different usb blocks, I had a vita that was "dead" no light etc even when left on charge for days, but then when I plugged it into my kitchen usb wall socket the orange light finally came on and a few hours later it was alive and well and charged ok with the original charger, I guess some blocks just push a tiny bit more juice to spark it back to life

or you could replace the battery if it was working before it was packed away its probably just the battery drained too much
