PS1/2 Ps2 region free question

Hello i was wondering how to change my ps2 to a region free console i have a mod chip installed(Modbo 5.0) and free mc boot on a ps2 card if you are wondering why i want to do this its because i have a spider man 2 for the ps2 but its ntsc u/c rather than pal and yes i have heard of the whole disk swap or plastic disk tools and others too but i was wondering is there any way to do this the software way rather than hardware way.

If you have a chip, it should already be region free? You may have to change the chip's settings though (including any "skip PS2 logo" feature which needs to be on)

Any updates to the console (freemcboot, freehdboot, hddosd...) may or may not conflict with the chip's patches, too
