PS1/2 PS2 Controller port problem?

On my PS2 the controller port is not working also everything else is not working to. I have not yet checked if the ribbon cable for it is damaged. One of my controllers detects the port ("kind of") saying the Analog button works but nothing else does. But my other controller detects nothing Does anyone know why this is happening to my PS2? Also the ribbing cable was ripped out and still works and the PS2 was flooded in a basement when I got it today. He says it was water damaged. So can the water damage be part of the problem?

Did you try turning it on before it was completely dry? Yeah water could be a big problem.

It's probably not worth trying to fix, just go buy a used one at Gamestop and save the hassle.

Fixed. It was the ribbon cable's fault. It wasn't connected very properly so I had to tape it down and leave it unscrewed.
