PS1/2 PS2 burned games unknown disk error help

I have a maxell DVD + R and I have just burn PS2 iso on DVD disk.
I have patch PS2 iso with ESR patch and when I inject DVD disk with PS2 iso in my fat PS2, I get unknown media in drive on ESR and yes I'm using Free Mcboot.
I'm sure I have burn PS2 iso right.
Exit anyway to fix unknown media in drive error?

I would be very grateful for all help.

With "+" discs, you may need (depending on your console model) to set the book type to dvd-rom (hopefully you have a writer that supports doing that... for the next disc, of course!)

All depends on your burner software, read its instructions (for example in ImgBurn it's Tools > Drive > change book type)

You will need a set of DVD-Rs if you cannot do what Ryccardo said. DVD+Rs do not work, even on my Test unit.

Guessing you mean on a flash drive. That requires a PS2 with MagicGate to be able to play games off of a flash drive. If that doesn't work, Amazon has DVD-Rs. I cannot post links, but look up "Verbatim AZO" (made using a dye that was developed by Taiyo Yuden/JVC but was sold to CMC Magnetics) if you are looking for a bit of an expensive but good option, or "Sony DVD-R" for a cheaper but decent disc. Your local Target should also have Sony media, and do NOT buy any media from Walmart; they only stock Memorex (cheap, finnicky, hates my PS2) and the cheap Verbatim DVD-Rs, which are not as good as the AZOs.

As with all burnable media though, YMMV due to ROM rip quality and burner/burning quality/speed.

I finally get Ps2 in drive and when I start up the game on ESR, I get colors screen and after that a black screen. The game won't start up.
What did I do wrong?

I assume you are still burning games on DVD+R? Try another image if not, and if so, you will probably need DVD-Rs.
