PS1 Launch Games

Didn't know that some of the games used O rather than X and Zero Divide offered to save replays which was a very futuristic feature.

I'm definitely interested playing Kileak: The DNA Imperative with a turbo controller so I don't have to keep pressing the same button as it really looks a lot of fun despite getting poor reviews. Upon seeing this video, I'll be checking his PS2 Launch Games one as I remember being excited for it even though I only got one years later. lol

I never played any of these launch games, but can tell you this much. A friend of mine rented a Playstation and Twisted Metal from Blockbuster Video for a sleepover party, and we played that game all night. I wanted a PS1 sooo bad after that. That and Tekken were probably the games that helped push the PS ahead of everything else.

Kind of depressing to have a PS1 and then all you can play is... That.

I remember that episode of avgn. I didn't think my friend was telling me the truth back in the 90's, but I did see the playstation and final fantasy vii in his possession, which I assumed he rented.

PS1 backups are all over the web and you can just download RetroArch, download the PS1 core from the list, and start playing it.

PS1 games compared to the N64 and DC did not age well at all, heck, it's more reasonable and fair to compare it to the Saturn.

There's something so nostalgic about the SCPH-1002 version of the playstation. Not just the audio outputs but the firmware, little messages to insert the disc and then actual text on the power and open buttons. Too bad the disc drives were dreadful.

I tried Kilieak the other day and the controlling the camera with the d-pad feels very cumbersome, I suppose it's possible to emulate it to the left analog stick which would definitely help improve the game to be modernized.

If you may like to know, there's a 60fps version of Ridge Racer PS1 via the RR4 Turbo Bonus Disc. It plays buttery smooth, just wow, even my eyes love it too.

Yes, I knew about it. I bought R4 back in 1999. (wasn't R4 also the name of a DS flashcart? But I digress.) It was a nice demo game of what they could have done with Ridge Racer. Speaking of early releases, have you checked the demo disc that was given to you when you pre-ordered the machine back on release. I think it was called "Developers demo disc" or something like that. The one with the teenage girl walking toward the camera for the FMV demo. There was a demo of a walking T-Rex that is still impressive. You could control all his movements with the pad, and zoom in or out. Nice memories.

Damn! I just saw it listed on eBay for $395 US. I must find it in my things and sell it.
