I have a PAL PS2 Fat and am trying to find out if there is any way I can load backup PS1 games on it. I've heard of the browser swap trick (I have a SwapMagic and Swaptool) but when I do this there are 3 problems:-
1. The disk is still spinning when I eject the drive
2. I am using a USA version of the ISO (easiest one to find) so have no idea whether it should load or not (I can't get it to load though)
3. When using the backup CD my PS2 makes an odd clicking sound...it is worrying.

I have a PS2 swapmagic and my PS2's model number is SCPH-30003 R

That's the browser swap trick. When I try it in my PAL PS2 the disk is still spinning (not good for disc OR PS2) and the new disk makes a horrible clicking sound and doesn't load (not even the PS logo).
The ISO is good as I've used it to make a PSP eboot and I burnt it at the slowest possible speed using IMGBurn, it could possibly be due to it being a NTSC version while I am on a PAL PS2

I am prepared to turn to softmodding if needed (as said I have a swapmagic) but I will probably need to buy a new memory card.

My ps2 fat made an odd clicking sound too while playing some games. Alot of discs got scratched by my PS2 and Sony said it was not possible. They replaced the same ps 5 times with the same model. Later I found out that some models have that problem. Now I have a PS2 slim

So watch out for scratched disc's!
