Gaming PS1 games black screen

I have been using Impalers PSX Eboot creator to make some PS! games for my PSP. All the ISOs were tested before being converted, and are shown in the compatibility list as working.
I tried 2 games, Chocobo Racing and Symphony of the Night but both loaded, showed the "this game may wbe different from the original" screen and then...nothing.
The screen goes black but I can still use the home menu and exit etc.
I am using 5.03 GEN-C and (I think) no popsloader.
Can anyone help me?

How do you mean the ISOs were tested? I had the same problem and the ISOs worked fine in a PSX Emulator but not on PSX4PSP. What program have you used to rip your games? I use Alcohol 52 % with no problems

I used Magiciso, I'm gonna try again because I think it may be the converter.
Will post results when done.

EDIT:

It seems that if there is a "-" in the filename it corrupts it.

MagicIso is supposed to be horrible. Try UltraISO or CloneCD instead.
