Homebrew PS1 Emulator for CFW

I currently running PCSX-Rearmed r22 and trying to play a PS1 game (LoD) i cannot get it to save to a memory Card. i am at a save point in the game, but when i save, it disappears as soon as i close the menu.

set a dedicated save file directory in "settings > directory > savefile dir"
try configuring save settings in "settings > saving"
use save states

To be clear I don't want to use save states I'd like to use the mem card
