Ok, so I'm not sure if this is something specific for me or no, because I did run the search and I didn't really find any matching threads, so here goes.

I've been playing some backups without any problems and today, when I started my TLG backup, the console just shuts down. Controller won't turn it on, only a button press does the trick. Ok, I run it again - same thing. Third time, I first start another backup, and then another, and since I ran out of backups to run, I go back to TLG and this time - it works.
I played some , left the game and now, a couple of hours later, I wanted to play some more, so as a precaution, I thought about starting Doom first, but it happened again. My PS4 shuts down.

Now, the shut down happens almost immediately after I press the X to start the game - title picture is shown, maybe 1 sec loading, probably less, and it just shuts down. Naturally, upon rebooting it warns me of improper shutdown and tells me not to do it again.

I am on 4.05, not using my PC as a server, but rather accessing the internet to inject HEN.

Any ideas what might be causing this?

You need to do some troubleshooting to figure out if it's exploit related or not. Easiest way is to replicate your usage with originals instead of backups and see if you get similar behaviour.

Just in case anyone's been having the same problem (I hate it when I find an inconclusive thread) - So I've been trying to replicate the problem these last few days but to no avail - regardless of whether I run an original game or a backup. So I still have no idea what's going on.

I had this issue and all you need to do is once you have loaded hen wait a few seconds for the padlocks to go away or scroll left and right on the xmb. Once you have done that the games will work perfectly fine. If you try to play a game too quickly after the exploit is loaded the ps4 runs out of memory. Im using a 4.05 and a 4.55.
Hope this helps

Oh, cool, it actually happened to me yesterday again, only this time, it happened with a non-backup game. Which was actually kind of surprising, I was running it first these days, and only after that booted up, I would close it and run backups.
I guess I'll try waiting a bit longer :) . Thanks!

I had the issue with "Holygrail 4.55" payload. To solve it, just after I initialized the payload, I go one time in the package installer (even if I install nothing). Only then I can start any backup.

^That's weird. I wonder how people even discover such things as solutions :) .

Also, one small note/question: I am running my backups by opening the guide - I haven't bypassed the browser thingie, nor do I plan to. Anyway, when I inject HEN, is it better to use the PS button to go back to the XMB or should I go options -> close window? I have always used the PS button and that was maybe causing those memory outages?

It is recommended to use PS button, to back ground the process.

Funny: I use holy grail now instead of VTX hen, on 4.55 even with userland.js v2, I haven't experienced any issues for a long time. I have OG 500gb, never use rest mode.

From my experience, "Holygrail" payload seems to be the "most stable" to support rest mode: I never had a single issue with it. However, it often crashes when it is initializedor if you forgot to "take time"(like going into package installer menu) before the first backup loading. Once it works, you can "safely" go into rest mode (and keep the payload ready for next PS4 use :-)).

Never had that issue.

I run grail (self hosted), open game, play until done.

A lot of stuff is related to PS4 model, that's why people get confused why something that works for others doesn't work for them, or vice versa.

Mine is the later fat and can't do rest mode no matter which exploit is used. Also not compatible with any linux yet.
