Hacking proof that the 3DS has a secret log file?

Didn't someone here from GBATemp accidentally keep their flash-card in their 3DS when they sent their unit in for repairs? I don't remember who or where that post is, but I thought I read that the flash-card was disposed of, but the unit was fixed and returned.

IIRC, that was 8bit Luigi (or something like that). can't remember if the flashcard was "returned" as well (i think it's in his sig), but the unit was repaired.

I think it all depend on which Nintendo location/country you send it for repair.
And usually they are not doing the fix themselves, they are sending it to third parties who can care or not.

Sometime you can even have you Wii back with a pink-fish DVD

Some other may let you pay 200$ for piracy (someone posted a scan of a Nintendo letter sent to repair shops about the extra price)

To further beat the dead horse, just to make sure it doesn't rise up again as a zombie, I will point out how nintendo said "possibility" when referring to the bricking, in referrence to something unintended, like for example a firmware hack which then becomes unbootable after an update, rather than an intended nuke released with the "certainty" of killing piracy-used consoles. It's only a general disclaimer that doing unintended things with the console could result in something bad happening.

I agree. Look at a Wii. It's certainly possible to install something that'll brick it as soon as it's updated, and if you do it's certainly not Nintendo's problem.

That sounds like BS for a whole lot of reasons.

Firstly, they can't prove it. Sure, it'd be weird to see some with 100+ hours logged in of Chessmaster or Hello Kitty DORASU or Danny Phantom or Alex Rider Storm Breaker or whatever, but that doesn't mean it's impossible. As soon as just one legit person gets screwed like this, it's a lawsuit

Secondly, if you, some random handsome stranger from GBAtemp uses a flashcard, sells your 3DS to a local mom and pop shop, or really, any store that doesn't check, and they sell it back to some ten year old and Nintendo bricks their system, Nintendo's gonna be in a world of trouble for doing so.

hmm thanks. My anxiety has gone down a bit. I think sending it in can be safe now... although to be fair the thing with 8bit waluigi was a dsi not a 3ds..

I heard that if they catch you using a flashcart, you'll find a dead ROB head in your bed the next morning... as a warning.
