Gaming Problem with static ip

Hi, I tried to set up samba on my Wii to play psx isos and it worked, I got a game running, (it didn't work the first time because I had a dynamic IP). I assigned a static IP but now my internet connection just flat out sucks (even when not streaming isos) I can't load half of the pages so I'm wondering if there is a fix to be able to run all web pages at normal speeds and keep my ip static to stream data from my computer
