Hi. I'm having a problem, thought someone here might have some insight on how to solve it.

So, I had a copy of pokemon X on a 2gb card. When Nintendo gave the copy of one of the Pokemon games a little while ago, I got a copy of Y. I downloaded this copy of Y on an 8gb card for my brother to play. Yesterday, I decided to play the game again, so while looking on a couple of sites, I found that's possible for me to play the same game, so I put my copy of X on the 8gb card and his copy of Y on the 2gb card. I downloaded another copy of Y on my 8gb card and started playing today. Now, when he tryed to play his copy won't open, the message "the saved data is not compatible with this version so it can't be used" apears.
How should I proceed? Is there a way to play both games or only one copy of X and one of Y can be played?

If anyone could help me, I'd be very grateful.

When i game is downloaded from the eshop to a 3ds it's tied to that 3ds copying it to another sd card and putting it into another 3ds will not work.

The 3DS is the same, I only changed the cards.

did you tried to move files on pc? what did you did? you can't copy files, you can only move the entire folder and you can't paste inside another card with a 3ds folder...

there is save data copy protection for pokemon X/Y. when ever you save the game it makes a note on the internal nand the state of the current save data. if you try to revert to previous save data it will see the data does not match what it has in nand and will say its not compatible. When you started a new game on Y on your SD card. you overwrite the flag that said your brothers save data was current save data. now he can not use his data anymore. sorry. no way to fix it.

I used my computer for it. Copied the entire content of the card with Pokemon X and Y on the computer. Than, I put the entire content of the X folder on the card with 8gb and downloaded the 2nd copy Pokemon Y on that card. Did the same for the folder with the 1st downloaded Y game (the one that my brother had played and saved), placing the entire content inside the 2gb card.

So there's no way to have 2 save datas of the same game? What if I delete the save data from my copy of Y, his still wouldnt work?

why don't your brother play pokemon x and you play pokemon y? the game is the same there is almost no reason for one person to play both....

look at me, i had pokemon diamond, and now i recently purchased pokemon pearl and platinum and i dont play them because its the same game as diamond... (but i plan to play them in the future i just need to rest a bit)

you can not have 2 save data and you can not revert back to his data at all. your data is the newest. so it sees you brothers as a backup and it wont let you restore backups. it is to prevent people from cloning stuff.

you can't do this.. if you edit anything inside the sd card, the 3ds will know and regect it... you can't just delete a file, or trade it for other... in the 3ds manual they explain it...

That's a shame, I read and heard from so many sources that I'd be able to do this with the games. Thanks for your replies ^^

anted to play the game again LOL the gameplay is very nice, and I don't wanna lose all the 200 hours of game I have on X, so this trade seemed like a nice option. Thanks for your replies ^^

there is a way, probably not so cheap, later when you want to play it again you can buy the phisical copy of the game, so you get a download version, and card version, this way you can have 2 or more saves one for each phisical card you buy xD but i know i know prices on brazil are expensive etc... but try to get it on ebay or a second hand game.. (if you happen to buy it online always check the region of your console and the game you gonna purchase)

That's the plan now, but with the new Pokemon games coming soon I might just buy these. Games here are very expensive, at a local store I can get for about 170 reals (80 dolars) and online I can get for about 140 reals (60 dolars), so it's much cheaper to buy from the e-store.

i know you would say that xD, every brazilian guy complains about games prices xD its something i can't avoid (i am just making a joke, hope you dont get offended)

but like i said you can try to get a pre-owned game.. on ebay or something like that, there are pawn shops\second hand shops which does sell games, this way they can be a bit cheaper... and don't forget, when the new games get released price drops, i bought all my black\white\white 2 games for 10 euros each. (same as 10 dollares basically) just because X\y was about to be released...
