So, yesterday, I was trying to move my copy of Breath of the Wild from my NAND to my USB to make some space for updating it, I updated the game and it worked fine on the USB, and then I tried to move it back to NAND to free up space, but when I did I would constantly get a "There is an error in the software's data." Which I couldn't delete and 4 "???" taking up about 4gb were created but each said they were 0kb, but I couldn't delete them.

I realized that these were cause by Breath of the Wild failed move. I tried to use the system wiiu file manager in settings to move them, which I had done before without problems. Like last time, I had Mocha CFW running while I performed this task. However, this time it didn't work, after multiple attempts I couldn't move the file nor delete the "???" files, so I realized I could use system config tool to move Breath of the Wild. System Config Tool refused to let me delete the "???" files, and gave me an error message. I instead used it to move BOTW and it was successful the file copied over. Problem is I had to turn off the system at this time as it was late.
When I just now try to turn on the system it boots up fine. But I do not see the extra file in my NAND which I copied last night, but worse yet, I cannot boot Mocha CFW no matter what I try. It loads up but the music on Mocha stops and the system freezes. I can no longer access CFW, but I can load into homebrew.

Is there a fix for this? What did I do wrong. I am on firmware 5.5.1, USA system. I want to do a Haxchi update on my system but can't at the moment due to being in another country and not having a credit card. I would like to keep 5.5.1 until I am able to install Haxchi.

Edit: I was able to run Custom Firmware, an older version, but I cannot run anything on the system that I added. Do I have to rehack my system? Could I do this again over the current hack or would that brick the console? Thanks for any info!
Edit 2: I tried to move Breath of the Wild from the USB to the Wii U internal Memory, and it worked now, but I still can't access mocha, I'm assuming the original hack is corrupted but not sure if I can fix this, is this fixable?
Edit3: I found out I can make Mocha run without problem if I press B on Mocha's start up and disable RedNand, I wasn't sure if I had this installed but I think I do, I did this hack a year ago when people were recommending RedNand on youtube so I think it's in there, but it now seems to be corrupted. Can I delete Rednand without a problem? I still cannot load any backups and simply get the message, "There is an error in the update data" when I go to launch one of these games. Can anyone help?
Edit4: Yeah I can confirm something is wrong with RedNand but I don't think I have it installed but I am not sure. Is there a way to fix this? I do have the Nand File from when I dumped it, but I do not know what to do.

The system plays fine, and I can play all the demos and some eshop games I have but not the updated games, could I just delete the games and use a different method to upload them to my console and just forget about rednand?

Adding this as a reply to myself. Seems I corrupted Rednand somehow, but it's not all bad, I still have access to my wiiu and just found out I can easily add content through sysnand install of games and they work well, there's absolutely no need to use rednand, but it seems I was running RedNand, and since that's corrupted I cannot access my old games. I guess I lost my save, but no big deal I already won the game and just wanted to try out the DLC. Anyways, I do have some concerns left if any one out there could help me, I have system config tool installed on the Nand of the system but I can only access it through Rednand, is there a way to delete this item now that I do not have access to rednand? Also is there a way to get the extra space missing from my Nand? It's about 5GB difference I use to see when using Rednand, but now I do not seem to have access to it. (I would be okay with system restoring if that works but don't want to brick so I'm asking)

Last thing, could I wipe out the extra partition on my SD card, if I could utilize all 64gb of that card, I would rather do that than have Rednand. And would it be possible to add Haxchi still on this system? Thank you guys!

Yeh u can still haxchi it
Not quite sure bout rednand. Isn’t that just stored on sd card. Maybe just formatting that would wipe out to delete partition. Then just buy compatible ds game from eshop for haxchi. If on 5.5.1 use that tool to enter eshop on lower firm “ can’t think of name off hand” and buy ds game then follow haxchi guide.
There must be a guide for removing rednand
With no sd card in is ur internal storage what it should be or is rednand stuff appear there. I’m not really sure how it works but I thought it was pretty much a copy of Wii U on sd card and it’s run off sd card instead of the systems nand
You could always just back up everything on sd card then delete partition and format to fat32 and see what happens. Can always restore copy of sd card

Here’s a thread I found with quick search

Thanks for the reply, I'm still trying to find info on how to backup the SD card just in case. If I can do that I will, I also really would like to delete the extra stuff from rednand still in my wiiu's internal storage if I could.

I forgot to mention, you asked if with no sd card is my internal storage what it should be, and the answer is no, it seems something is taking up about 5.5GB of storage, and I cannot delete it, nor does it show up in my system files as anything. Only when I run rednand was I able to see what was there, unfortunately rednand doesn't work anymore so I can't see these files or interact with them in any way to delete them. I'm looking for a way to do that but can't.

RedNAND users always seem to have the worst problems that nobody understands. After everyone was suggesting it, rednand was suddenly abandoned and not recommended anymore. So its natural when someone just cannot understand how exactly to troubleshoot rednand issues. Its not your fault at all, I blame the community thinking rednand was the better option when it clearly was never needed in the first place.

RedNAND is stored on a separate partition on your SD card and takes up 8 GB or 32 GB depending on the size of your SD card. Your SD basically is your system's NAND and does all the reading and writing (Poor SD card going through abuse). You originally had Mocha boot you into RedNAND so now that you changed it, mocha will boot CFW over sysNAND. Think of CFW as a blanket, its just some patches to the system that are temporary until you shut it off. Mocha was simply applying that blanket of CFW to RedNAND instead.
You could format your SD card and merge the partitons with a partition manager, or you can leave your SD card as is and just have mocha boot to sysNAND. In fact you dont even need CFW to boot up everything. Just simply turning on your system is enough to play wiiu backups.
Here's the deal. if you installed your games to the USB, then all those games should show up on sysNAND and you can play them like usual. Since both sysNAND and RedNAND share the same USB, since RedNAND is a COPY of sysNAND. However if you had your games installed to NAND on RedNAND, they will not show up in sysNAND because RedNAND's Nand lies on the SD card itself in its partition.

I definitely recommend abandoning RedNAND as soon as you can, it's not worth it. The wiiu is extremely hard to brick so there's no need for such a safety net. If you owned a DS VC game, you can simply download it from eshop onto sysNAND. I think you mentioned wanting to buy one. it goes for $7. However if you don't want to spend $7 you can stick to using the browser exploit to get into homebrew launcher instead. On 5.5.1 the browser exploit is stable enough to use like that.

I can't guarantee that my suggestions would fix your redNAND problems. Some of that stuff you mentioned, I have never heard of before. However i do know how you can delete incomplete data. You will not be able to do anything about it from the system, so you must boot up a homebrew called Ftpiiu Everywhere and browse to "Storage_MLC/sys/import/" and you'll find the incomplete data there that you can delete.

Hope this helps!

Thanks so much! This was a super helpful post, I believe I will completely delete RedNAND now as it seems to be completely useless. I just hope to use FTPiiU everywhere but I only can find Ftpiiu online and it seems from what I read that I need CBHC installed, hopefully there's another way, but if not at least I know I can delete these useless files someday. Thank you again!

There is a trick to getting data management to work. You can try going on eshop and download a free game demo. Then go into data management afterwards and delete that game demo. You should be able to delete corrupt data after that using data management. Give it a try!

I'm going to try this thanks so much, I hadn't tried this at all, but I did delete some demos I already had installed but that didn't work!

Wanted to reply to myself in case someone happens upon this thread in the future and thinks their save games are gone because their RedNand corrupted. Okay, so I thought I had lost my Breath of the Wild save so I was going to delete the game that I saw on my USB, and I realized that, I can delete individual parts of the game, the game itself, it's DLC, and it's updates, by clicking on the icon. I had known about this before hand, but if you are like me and are able to see the game after RedNand Corrupts on your USB drive, or wherever you have it stored. You might not have to even do this, but delete the game, the update, and the DLC if you have it, and just keep the save game on the drive, if you want you can make a copy of the save and move it to another drive, USB recommended, and then reinstall the game on the drive with your save. You will likely just reinstall a playable version of the game, and can play from there. I read on different messages that once RedNand corrupts you lose your save but this isn't true, just reinstall the game and your save game will likely still be there. Hope this helps someone in the future!

Thanks for merging this post that looks better!

You lose your save only if your game is installed to system memory under rednand and then rednand corrupts. If rednand corrupts and you're save is on USB you lose nothing.

Yes, I couldn't find this information at all, I just kept reading how RedNand corrupts your save too but not if it's available on Rednand itself, so in case someone was confused like me I wanted to post it here! This was a great find for me! Thank you again!
