Hi

I have a problem with 2 N64 roms that I never managed to fix.... I hope someone can help me?

I am using the latest nighty retroarch build from libretro bundled with the latest mupen64plus-next core.
I have deleted all the config files I had on my SD card so I have just unzipped retroarch build and put some roms on the card.

All roms are working great with default config execpt for 2 games: Banjo Kazooie and Perfect dark.

Banjo Kazooie is running perfectly fine at fullspeed but the game crashes randomly and retroarch just freezes, I had to close app to return to the switch main menu.
I have to make savestates every 2 minutes because I never know when the game is gonna freeze...
And with perfect dark, same for previous game, it’s running perfectly fine except for the multiplayer game mode. Everytime I start a multipayer game (or with CPU), retroarch crashes and I’m back to the switch menu.

I think I have problem with these only 2 games.

Anyone knows what is the problem?

N64 emulation has come a long way, but it's far from perfect. Both games you list have trouble in emulation.

Pretty much your only solution is to just wait for further emulation updates.

You should report the banjo bugs to the github of the developer so they can get proper attention.

Perfect dark does have a fix for multiplayer. Someone posted about that same issue last week and there’s a setting that you’re able to change that will resolve the black screen. I would search this section of the forum for it, because while I don’t remember it I know it exists.

I sometimes think it would be very useful to add extra cores to RA’s mupen.
I noticed before with certain updates too that although many amazing improvements are made(thanks to a stellar dev), that a occasionally a few great games get broken. Even just having glide and rice options available as that extra layer of backup. Im not too much into first person shooters, but I know how brilliant perfect dark is, and I thoroughly love banjo kazooie so I can totally empathise with that.

Hello,

I am trying to find that post but I am not able to accomplish it. Do you remember any more info about it?

Hopefully yes!

Best,

Willsito

Make sure frame buffer emulation is set to to false in options,u have to be playing a n64 game to see the options menu.

I assume you're doing that but in case you aren't it could be the thing to resolve it.

I was having the same issue with banjo kazooie. Launch it, open the retroarch options, change the audio device to 'switch' instead of what it is currently. This appears to have fixed it for me, no crash in 2 days now.
