Sharing a rather unimpressive picture of my Voron Switchwire that I snapped from the couch. Currently printing parts for an LDO Voron Trident 300 kit for my buddy.

The funniest part is running the Ender 3 bed in this thing at 105c so that I can print ASA šŸ˜‚

Updates on my Switchwire: It almost caught fire lol. Was having heater_verify errors in Klipper, and was trying to run some test prints in ASA to figure out why. Eventually it ended up running the 75w heater cartridge at 100% output, but was still coming up about 1.5c shy of the 275c setpoint. Looked over and it was full of ASA smoke. Lovely. I THINK that Klipper thermal runaway protection was probably going to kick in within about 10 seconds from when I got up to flip the power switch, but, still, eesh. This printer is officially out of commission now until I get around to running a fairly significant overhaul on it. It needed it anyway.

Damage to it: Some discoloration on the Stealthburner faceplate, will continue using that. Hotend mount is melted beyond use. Hotend (Trianglelab Dragon HF) is gonna get junked, probably. Stealthburner mount is also melted, and started to pull out one of the heatserts. CRtouch front shell is deformed.

In other news I've been working on building a Fysetc Trident 300 kit. The Fysetc kit is HORRIBLE, and I will never buy another Fysetc product ever again. I'm supplementing it with a Siboor CNC AWD kit though, which is SUPER nice.

A few pics from the build, more details to come once it's finished. Which will be soon-ish!

The big details here though is that it's an AWD kit with 9mm belts and 48v AB steppers. Finished the wiring last night, so now just have to move on to figuring out how to use the Cartographer probe, finalizing some config changes, and updating my macros to work with a coreXY printer. Benchy today, hopefully!

Did you buy a kit to do this?

I’m trying to figure out what I want to do with my ender 3 now that I replaced it with something better

I’m thinking
Enderwire
Ender NG(core xy conversion)
Or parting it out, and moving the working parts and mainboard to my broken artillery sidewinder x1 for a ratchet cr10

Yup, bought the Siboor Switchwire convrrsion kit off of AliExpress for it, and had my buddy print the parts for me in ASA. Unfortunately as seen in my later post there it got a little bit melty šŸ˜‚ but that's no fault of the kit, none of the parts involved were even ones included in the kit to begin with. Haven't had the time to rebuild it yet still, I only JUST got around to mostly getting my Trident up and running, pending some final calibrations.

Overall I was/am pretty happy with the Siboor kit, only real negatives I have to say are that the way the enclosure goes together is absolutely asinine and makes no god damn sense, hence all of the painters tape to help seal it better; and the bottom electronics panel cover had a screw hole that I had to file because it was a little out of alignment. Beyond that, all really solid quality parts.

The E3NG is also really, really cool, I've got another ender 3 that's gonna get that treatment some day.

I haven't worked with the E3NG yet but on the whole I'd say you're probably gonna have a better time with that being a coreXY printer than the switchwire being a coreXZ printer, ultra fast Z hop isn't really *that* helpful lol. But the Switchwire is cool too 😁
