It's still to fucking much. $280.00 is WAY too much for a Handheld. And if I recall, the PSP was cheaper because we didn't have the HST back then, and that console still didn't sell that great back then. How the hell does Nintendo expect to survive?
*look at psp go*

I think they will survive just fine

It come with other stuff too...

Exactly, look at the PSP Go and look how much of a bomb that was.

I'm saying psp go vs 3DS

3DS has a lot more benefits and provides something new.

While psp go as you say bomb. Asking for that much without any improvements.

Why did psp go cost more anyway?

Psp Go is a tiny, phoned, annoying version of the PSP. It's still the DS' competence. So, there's no PSP Go vs 3DS.

Until the PSP2 comes out, the 3DS is on its own.

Well I'm going to have to pay $250+13% tax since I live in Toronto, which comes to $282.5, still happy my mind set was for a 300$ price tag which with taxes would be $339 so better than what I expected

It's an extreme shame there is a region lock on these things

At EB Games (being the shop that shits me up the wall the most) it costs f***ing 350$ AU. AU currency is nearly the same as the American dollar, there isn't too much difference. However, Nintendo think they're so cool and decide to rip off literally every other country that isn't their own (AKA Japan and America). So I say screw you Nintendo, why do you make much good consoles ;_;

I would personally love to own every console in the world, if only i was so rich. Fortunately Nintendo used to have the best prices on all their consoles, and also had the worlds best selling games at one point. It's such a shame that all of that's changed now, of course we still have some amazing game releases but.. well let's just say we're no Halo or CoD console here. It's a shame that Nintendo have completely lost interest in developing an original affordable console and instead are just trying to "WOW" us with 3D that apparently hurts the eyes :S Now if it was the exact same console minus the 3D, 3D Cameras (switch for normal ones) and whatever is just a gimmick, We would have a perfect and reasonably priced handheld.

*sigh* I've hated too much on you Nintendo I'm sorry, but $350 AU? C'moooonnn!

I'll get it one day, probably around April. Why do people say 'OMGG it costs more than the home console Wii' need I remind you that Wii is a generation behind the 3DS, there will be a new Wii2 whatever to match with the 3DS soon.

IMO £220 is a decent price for a new handheld, prices will lower indeed but for those who want it desperately will get it regardless of what other people's opinion on prices.

It's all about how much it costs for them to make it. The current gen consoles will most likely cost more to produce than the 3ds. Just because it's new doesn't mean it's worth the same as a console. Nintendo could probably make 3 3ds for the price sony pay for 1 ps3.

We don't know how much it costs to make a 3DS, what we do know is that Nintendo likes to make profit on the hardware it sells. Then again it's business tactics, start off with higher prices, not enough people buying then lower the prices.

I'm not an expert on hardware but I seriously doubt the 3ds costs anywhere near what the ps3 costs to make. Also look at the American price compared to the UK. Nintendo are clearly having a laugh. There is no excuse for the prices they released.

back then you could buy 2 3ds' for the price of 1 ps3
this is not an exta ds to the 4 one, this is 8th generation
looks like ppl still don't get it, there are no officially released 8th generation consoles[pandora's not "official"]

all i see is the european gamers get ripped off
which is my only problem with the price

The problem is we pay over 50% more than Americans, so at least it should be clear that this 50% could be avoided.

That's the big issue for me. I can't justify paying £230 when I know the US are getting for significantly less. For heaven's sake, I payed £260 for my PS3 with an extra controller and two games. The 3DS is not worth £30 less than my PS3 bundle.

Nintendo/stores is clearly ripping us off, £ is stonger = more profit for nintendo -_-

Yes I don't believe a 3DS production costs more than a PS3, nintendo makes sales from hardware, hence their high price to make double profit selling it in the UK! It's stupid I know but I'll still get it cuz I love it regretfully.

Just thought a comparison might be useful.
