There is something wrong with your config.

Pplay 3.5 works with FTP, but very slow.
Pplay 3.5 fork 4/5 work with FTP, and very fast.

Config is correct, as I use the exact same but with a folder added and it works just fine.
I use it as follows:
Code:
NETWORK = "ftp://user:pass@IP:port/";

that doesn't work for me, but with a folder added works:
Code:
NETWORK = "ftp://user:pass@IP:port/FOLDER/";

It's weird as there are only a few folders in my root folder anyways.

I mean, something is wrong with your setup, not config file.
We use local network without internet access or folder & works.
This is our config in local network:
Code:
NETWORK = "ftp://anonymous:[email protected]:21/";

Devel Update:

Working very hard on new player, it will be called NXMP (NX Media Player)
The first news is that it can play 60fps videos! (not possible in pplay and never will)
It should be faster than pplay, and it has UTF8 support (not possible in pplay)

It will take time to get all stuff working (for now it only play from local filesystem)
Stay tunned, i will open a thread when i am closer for a release

Thanks to @bodyXY icon is ready.

The gui is working but a bit "ugly", dont expect alpha/transition or other cool stuff in the first version, but for sure a fast player.

@proconsule54

We need to avoid any accidental button press during playback, because the kids press the buttons randomly, we can not control them.

Pplay is very good for the kids, because there is no accidental key press during playback, they can access playback speed only, nothing serious.

Please, make your new player for kids friendly like Pplay.
Thanks & keep up the good work.

Button seeking is far best way, but i also have a young son so i can understand @tataniko suggestion.

A master button lock can override all the problems, like the minus button, tha disable all button pressed event until released.
Sounds good?

Maybe the best solution is something like the option of self defining buttons like in E2 Multiquickbutton plugin?

Here are some other video samples for testing surposes: HD UHD Samples

I suggest not dedicated button for lock button, but something special, like right stick pressing.

I also suggest not to disable all buttons, because the play/pause button needs to be active during playback.

We are very excited, waiting for your media player.
