The first thing people do with freshly public domain chatacters is make a cheap slasher flick and that Pluto would fit right in.

That's the whole premise of whenever a character becomes public domain; they use it to grab the media's attention by following trends; either including it on merchandise, or on a low-budget horror slasher which doesn't get favorable reviews.

I tried that but when the firemen turned up and reminded me about the food, it was apparently "overdone"
