Out of all the games I tried on the ppsspp (And im a heavy psp gamer), the only game that I couldn't play up to full speed was Gundam Vs Gundam Next +. The rest all worked with full speed running at 2x the regular resolution. If you want a list of the games I have tested on the Psp give me a pm. I'll let you know.
Regarding Mupen, it has a lot of different settings (Simpler than retroarch). It has 3 different gfx plugins, if you want max speed with better graphics, i recommend running the plugin called rice.
I tested Conker (It doesnt run well with the 2 other gfx plugins, but it runs perfectly with rice and the graphics look a lot better)
Fzero (Runs perfectly)
Zelda Ocarina and Majoras mask (Both run perfectly)
Donkey Cong (Runs perfectly)
Another thing I forgot to mention is that you can also use external hdd or usb stick with USB OTG.
