Hmm this idea is just stupid. Just look at first android phones, there was nothing beside one big lag. And take a note - 3ds is slower than first phones running android 1.6.

I had an old one and it froze so fuckin much. I ended up using my DSi to do internet and shit.

Even if it is possible, I don't think you could get good performance out of it. Maybe you could run an ancient version of Android like 1.x and if you're lucky 2.x but apps for these versions tend to be very stripped down to work on weaker hardware.

Well I suppose you could load custom kernel and drivers for ARM11. It might have to be set up to communicate with ARM9 however. Then run the setup off a SD partition.
Wonder if that bootloader can be used w/ android. I don't know all that much about android.

I think the 3DS's operating system is based on linux

No.

with such a shitty screen, why bother, touch only in lower screen, and the smaller one too. not to mention resistive...

In theory, yes, a 3ds SHOULD be able to run android. At least a very old version of it. In practice, it's going to be a nightmare to get up and going, because we currently have no drivers for any of the hardware for it (touch screen? camera? GPU? heck, even support for the d-pad/buttons?), so those would all have to be designed from scratch. IF this can be accomplished, then yes it'll be cool, but you'll still be very limited in what can be installed on it.

Android isn't really practical on such a poorly "equipped" device such as the 3ds. You had mentioned Linux. I believe Debian would be a cool thing to use on the 3ds. Everything else would be super laggy and not all that useful.
