Gaming Pokemon Yellow Remake?

When will we be seeing a Pokemon Yellow remake? I thought that game was the best out of the series.

That's not really how the series has worked in the past, I don't think Nintendo would do that. I would seem like a money grab.

Well the pattern has been that they release remakes of the two main series games. For example, Fire red/leaf green, heart gold/soul silver, omega ruby/alpha sapphire, etc.

Well I still think re-releasing Yellow in the 3D format would be cool.

There is a hack out for Fire Red that makes it into a remake of Yellow. It's called Zap Yellow (google it). Never tried it, but it's probably about as close as you'll ever get.

I don't think Nintendo will re-release it since they also skipped Crystal. I also don't imagine a remake of Emerald will ever happen.

nooo, dont give them ideas of restarting the remakes cycle! if we see a remake of yellow in the next gen, then it will be crystal and emerald again D:

remakes so far got a pattern like endoverend said, and in hg/ss case it does have stuff from pokemon cristal (suicune special appearance, however this time is even better)
i think ORAS will also follow that idea, it will have stuff from emerald...

That's the thing though - Yellow WASN'T a enhanced mainline game, like Crystal was to G/S or Emerald to R/S.

For the first generation, the mainline games were Red and Green. Blue didn't come out until a year later, and featured updated artwork and dialogue. When the games were released in the US, we received Red and Blue (Both of which were based on the J Blue version)

Thats why we never got a Ocean Blue release - Because Red and Green were the mainline games, and Blue was the enhanced version.

Yellow was a loose anime adaptation, not a enhanced version.
That said, I'd love a Yellow remake but at this point it's not profitable. If Nintendo planned to put out a Yellow remake, it would have been during Gen 3.

I think the timing has to be *JUST* right for the remakes of the 3rd games, so they don't flop on their faces... And having them on the 3DS/N3DS would be amazing. Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, and Platinum remakes NEED to happen eventually. ;-;

That also was my favorite part of those games. Really, remakes aren't all that necessary when you think about it. Every Pokemon game is a remake, they just add new stuff.

I don't see any previously released Pokemon games coming to the VC. It'd cut too far into profits for whatever the next one will be.

There were other changes. In particular, you could get all 3 starters without trading or glitches.

Why not catch a Pikachu and put your starter away in FireRed/LeafGreen or something? The only key differences in Yellow besides newer Pokemon sprites and used other color pallets for each town was a small bit of the story that doesn't really change anything except for the Pokemon you are able to obtain and the starter that your Rival has. It added nothing else of importance.

How do you guys not remember surfing pikachu minigame? I'm not sure 10 year old me even cared about finishing the game once I got to that point, since I had already beaten it with red.
