I always considered Pokemon main series games as well as XD & Colosseum to be open world
How do you consider that? Each game is a linear trip through a region collecting 8 badges in a set order to reach the league. I think the most 'open world' Pokemon ever got was gen 1 allowing you to save Sabrina for later and just go to Koga and gen 2's Kanto being almost approachable however you like (which was really neat, mind you).

Regions often don't have anything extra to explore outside of where you're required to go and access to areas is always blocked off by HM requirements o NPCs. Don't even get me started on how un-open world the GC titles are-

I want a fully-featured Battle Frontier again .3.

Sigh, it really upsets me they didn't have that in ORAS, and trolled with the whole "Battle Frontier project as started" thing. I remember their reasoning being basically that it wasn't necessary and them claiming players wouldn't like the challenge, which is ludicrous and thinking too much about the kids. This particular project is something that would get adult fans really on board similar to how Go attracted non-kids, so cater to them too have a really challenging post game facility.

I dont care about the open world thing really. AllI want is that we get a more complete game like HG/SS and less than S&M but with much better graphics. Also add a decent post game and different shiny hunting methods. c:

I just finished HG and love those two games a lot, to the point where they may be my all time favorites, but nostalgia for Emerald is really strong. Even that is fine, a post-game that included going to a new region, it can be Sinnoh and them basically baking in the DP remake without actually releasing one.

i just hope they go colosseum /XD styled and mae every model in 3d and the camera is full on top but a little diagonal imo.
All pokemon since before sun and moon are already in 3D, ALL of em, the rest is just camera work which is pretty easily changed, I wouldn't like Colosseum or XD though, they were a bit too off-canon for me..

i meant the graphic style, newer pokemon games used all 3d but they make an awful looking 3d models, like any human on sun and moon and the maps and such are very lackbuster even some ds games did better 3d and pokemon only decent 3d models were when on battle everything else looked like crap, colosseum and xd graphicwise look amazing even to this day imo, i hope they dont go cell shaded style like zelda and go in those games direction imo.

The pokemon self are pretty high detail, it's mostly the cel shading and low resolution that makes em look a bit worse..

The area and world itself ofcourse couldn't be much higher detail, 3DS wouldn't be able to handle it power wise, and I'm pretty sure that if they DO make a switch pokemon game that'll be pretty obvious to change..

what i meant is i want realistic style not cell shaded style like they did with breath of thw wild, but knowing nintendo im almost sure pokemon will be cell shaded to look more anime style :S

A realistic style would look weird what do you think about the Pokken styled Pokemon

I just hope it doesn't turn out to be "MEH" and boring like Pokémon X and Y... I'm buying it regardless, but I still want games with a good story and some depth. US/UM really did a good job, blowing the originalS/M out of the water (pun?)

They milked a game as far as they could, and then proceeded not to care about it. In proof of my point, the official competitions stopped caring if people hacked in mons, and it really bugged me (idc if you hack one in or not, but you better not in a professional setting).
