Hacking Pokemon Let's Go Won't Launch

I've installed Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu edition NSP (v1.0.0) and it won't launch. It keeps saying there's an update but I don't want to update so I can use some cheats. How can I get the game to launch?

I believe if you are on a certain firmware you can't bypass the update. not 100% sure though.

use dev menu to reset the required update it needs to start up

All good - stayed on v1.0.2 and ended up loading my save via PKHex and editing it.

how to deal with this?
it says: "press a button on the controller you want to use."
i tried to press all the buttons from my controller but it wont work. im using ucom joystick
