Hi, I was at one of my local thrift stores and I bought a Sony RFU-89UCA which looked like it would fit into my PlayStation in the RFU DC OUT port and does, but this item is upside down when attached to my PlayStation because it was originally made for a Sony brand video8 camcorder. My question is will this work on a TV for my PlayStation through the TV's RF jack? Is this safe to use it fits, but is upside down as I stated earlier. The only differences between this RFU-89UCA and the RF Unit Sony SCPH-1061 are that Sony doesn't list DC IN _-_ -_ 5V and there isn't the addition of a coaxial in... presumably for the antenna\cable on the playstation official SCPH-1061; additionally the metal surrounded the male leads for video and mono audio wraps across the unit. I tried to upload my first 4 files showing what I bought and the last 2 images are the 1061 playstation RF from the web.

Thanks,
-R

Would the camcorder have the same voltage as the RFU-89UCA?
So I found this for Sony CCDF50 Camcorder. The RFU minijack says outputs 5V DC so that is consistent... the

Video input Phono jack. 1 Vp-p. 75 ohms
unbalance. sync negative

Audio input Phono jack. -7.5dBs, input
impedance more than 47
kilohms

Are the Playstations' 100X RFU DC Out [< this seems a yes] and Yellow RCA (F) (Phono) and White Audio (F) (Phono) compatible?

I don't see why they wouldn't be. They were both made by Sony around the same time. They were probably even made with the same components.

I may give it a go. I'm not expecting miracles obviously b/c it's RF, but it would be just be interesting to find out if this obviously very obscure peripheral is compatible with the Playstation.

The Sony RFU-89UCA works great, I'm getting the slightest bit of video interference w/ my CRT, but I was too lazy to hook the RF lead directly into the TV, but that is probably my fault as I'm using an RF Modulator on this TV so I can get the best quality from my VCR to it. I tried it on my Samsung 32" HDTV and the colors suck, but no interference and just to brag 240p :ha:! Mono audio works great across both TVs! In doing my research I believe people were referring to a part# RFU-90UC as being compatible with Sony Playstation, but nobody has yet to mention RFU-89UCA. So I believe I am the first. Yay, more of my ego!

Thx for your help @zfreeman
