i have yet to check it out, after i do ill post thoughts

I have wanted an Android phone for some time now. This almost convinced me of buying the PSP phone. I just need to get a price now.

why the hell are they marketing it as th xperia phone???? Stupid.

Because they already have a phone division. Also, with the upcoming release of the PSP2, having the name PSP Phone would be confusing. People may buy the PSP Phone thinking it will play PSP2 games when it doesn't.

good points, thought unless this has features not available on other android phones, don't think it'll do that amazingly well.

Why would you get the PSP phone? Its such a stupid idea. Why would you want to play games on your phone? They should have put a keyboard instead were they put the Playstation buttons... And plus its on Android which barely has any games to begin with.

Well integration of technologies is the future, but sadly phones have yet to produce the quality of games that dedicated devices have.

it's an all-in-one device, a phone and a handheld, plus it runs android which already has a ton of great apps.

the phone is going to get it's own game store and have games, plus would u rather launch with something that has some obscure operating system Sony makes or android 2.3?

Has Sony officially announced this yet? Engadget's already got a full preview up and the thing isn't officially announced? I bet it'll be shown tomorrow at the Sony press conference or whatever.

It's a PSP Go with a phone combined. It will almost certainly play all psp games, not only android apps.
It's easier to carry your phone than your PSP and phone.
QUOTE(Elvarg @ Jan 27 2011, 12:58 AM) Why would they call it a phone its nothing like a phone it just looks like one.
It is a phone with the ability to play PSP games.

going the wrong direction actually with phone game ports like angry birds and zenonia.

and DeadLocked: where did you get the idea from that it will play psp games?
perhaps some could be ported, but it has a completely different processor type than the psp and is definitely not fast enough to emulate the psp.

my main problem with this phone is that they try to "sell" it as a game phone while all it has for games is better built-in keys and an app.
and the hardware might be high-end now, but it will be average by the time it comes out.
the android tablet i bought a month ago already has more than twice the processing power of the xperia play.

Will I be able to install the Playstation Store on my Android device? Should be possible I think with root, and use our Wii remotes as controllers.

Its partially this but also because the Playstation brand doesn't carry as much weight as it used to.

There are strong implications that Sony's next console will not be called "Playstation." (Or PS4 because as we all know the number 4 is a taboo number in certain asian cultures.)
