I just bought a slim PS2 from a local video game store, and it won't boot PS2 game backups and backup movie DVDs. The message would just say "Could not read disc."

As a result, nothing burnt, like FreeDVDBoot, PS2 games patched using Jabu's patcher, and so forth can run on the PS2.

Here's my information:

Console: SCPH-77001
Browser: 1.40
CD Player: 2.00
Playstation Driver: 2.00
DVD Player:3.11U

Anything I did wrong?

It does.

Basically, it runs everything that's not burnt, but runs legit games and DVD movies just fine.

EDIT: Here's what I did try:
  • burn using CDBurnerXP with a 1x speed
  • play a legit DVD movie (it can't play burnt DVD movies)
  • turn on Diagnostic Mode
  • burn at low and mid speeds
  • use Verbatim AZO discs to patch games
  • use Jabu to patch games
  • use FreeDVDBoot
