Hacking Playing roms

Ok guys I just downgraded to 9.2
My question is, I want to be able to play roms of 3ds games on my system (N3DS XL 9.2.0_20u)
Do I need a custom firmware to do this? If yes can you point me to a guide or explain what firmwares the best to use. If not could you do the same and point me to a rom guide/explain.
Ive been looking for past hour, and I just keep finding how to romhack and edit roms/games. Nothing on how to install and play roms.

So Im running the .py folder and it opens for like 1 milisecond then closes and no firm file shows up. If I drag it into python and run it, it says invalid syntax.

IIRC, you need Python 2.7 for this

Dump them from cartridges you own. :^)

Use a CIA manager.

Alright got it working. I bought all the stuff to hard mod yesterday sadly 2 hours before this was released

Why do you need to hardmod when you're on 9.2 sysNAND already?

I think they had previously been above 10.3 so they couldn't downgrade. But now there is a way to do it without a hardmod and OP had ordered it before hand. At least I think thats probably what happened.

Exactly, I ordered the parts, and 2 hours later the non-hardmod way was released =\

Can someone please explain how one would go about installing theme packs that are in cia format. I tried using fbi but nothing appeared in themes or on home screen .

Not too sure about installing theme cias but I believe on that iso site has themes in CHMM2 format. An alternative if you can't find an answer

Ya looking like thats going to be my option, your supposed to just be able to install the cia and it should save em to the theme selector.

Oh, makes sense. I only saw "downgraded to 9.2" and was like ???
