Hacking Playing new games

I have kept my PS3 on OFW 3.5 with the idea of one day installing CFW on it (haven't spent the time to really look into what's required, consequences, etc.). This meant I couldn't connect to PSN or download some DLC, but that's really no big deal, for my purposes anyway.

What is a big deal, though, is I just bought Mass Effect 3, and can't play it without upgrading (I was unaware of this.. and now it's too late to return the game, because I have opened the packaging).

What are my options?



Another, unrelated question: How can I play x264-encoded 720p videos (with .mkv extension) on my PS3 - is this possible?

if you buy the true blue dongle you can play new games, but you still can't use PSN
recently team REBUG released a spoofer to access PSN but it isn't compatible with true blue CFW, anyway this probably won't last long
