Hardware Play without the IC P13USB?

Is it possible to play in hand-mode only without the P13USB?

and Im realy curios about that what is he saying in his thread "Initially the switch wasn't able to boot at all until a friend of mine removed the P13USB IC. Afterwards the switch was able to start, it can be used in handheld mode without any problems and it's charging."

I pm an he said yes, but Im still curios.

I guess so. The Switch Lite doesn't have it, after all.

I'm not sure it will charge without the P13USB.

yes; I also had a unit with a damaged PI3USB that wouldn't turn on, and once removed it turned on again and seemed to function properly in handheld mode. however, I did not test to see if USB data connection functioned properly, as I was replacing the PI3USB to restore full functionality.
